We are deeply saddened to report that Lisa Wood lost her fight with cancer on August 3 ,2007.

We ask that you keep Shane, and the Wood and Breckner families in your prayers during this time that they are in need of the Lords' grace in their lives.

We rejoice that Lisa suffers no more, but we grieve our loss.

Arrangements For Lisa

Visitation was 5-7 pm Wednesday the 8th at Pine Rest Funeral Home. There were hundreds in attendance.

The service was at 6 pm Thursday the 9th at

St. Paul's Lutheran Church and again there was standing room only. We are comforted to know that Lisa was so influential in so many lives, giving more of herself than she ever thought to receive in return.  We are blessed to have had such a wonderful friend, teacher, wife, sister, daughter, and mentor in our lives.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Lisa Breckner-Wood account at Wachovia Bank.

September 1st Saturday

Benefit Barbeque and Bake Sale
11-4 at the American Legion Hall in Foley.

Proceeds to build the scholarship fund and cover bills associated with Lisa's medical care.

Call Anne Metcalf 747-1294 to help.

Lisa's family would like to celebrate Lisa's passing as she celebrated her life.  We would like everyone to wear colorful clothing.   Everyone who knew Lisa knows what a love of color she had.  If anyone desires to wear somber clothing then that is perfectly understandable.  However, Lisa lived her life with a passion and a love of color and beautiful things that permeated everything that she did.  We know that Lisa would not want us to be sad at her passing and she would love to look down from heaven and see a palette of colors on display at her funeral.

There will come a day

when your tears of sorrow

will softly flow into tears of remembrance...

and your heart will begin to heal itself...

and grieving will be interrupted by episodes of joy...

and you will hear the whisper of hope.

There will come a day

when you will welcome the tears of remembrance...

as a sunshower of the soul...

a turning of the tide...

a promise of peace.

There will come a day when you will...

risk loving...

go on believing...

and treasure the tears of remembering.

Teacher of the Year

Hello to All

During one of the conversations that Lisa and I had before she was taken from us was a request that if she didn't make it, she wanted an art scholarship set up in her name.   That request exemplifies Lisa's love of and dedication to her students.  Even after she is gone she still wants to be able to help the students that she loved so much continue their art education.

In accordance with Lisa's request the Performing Arts Association (PAA) and I will set up the Lisa Breckner-Wood Memorial Art Scholarship.   The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to:

Lisa Breckner-Wood Memorial Art Scholarship

Thanks again to everyone for all of the wonderful support that they have shown to me and to Lisa's family.

 With love,

Shane and Family
